The Pécs-based Kontakt-Elektro Ltd. offers a wide range of technological solutions primarily for industrial companies. Its activities include the development, manufacture and on-site installation of devices and equipment for the electrical automation of industrial plants and equipment.

By integrating the digital shelf labels into the warehouse management system (WMS), Kontakt-Elektro Ltd. was able to significantly improve its warehousing and production processes. The displays not only identify storage locations and stock levels, but also offer interactive function buttons that directly control material requirements:
- Automated ordering: with a single touch, automatically generates material orders from production to the warehouse.
- With another touch, an email alert is sent to designated employees or managers when a quick replenishment of material is needed.
- Visual feedback: the display shows a colour feedback (red background) to indicate that the request has been processed.
Optimising production with MES integration
Kontakt-Elektro Ltd. also relies on digital shelf labels in production. The displays, in combination with the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), support the assembly processes on the production line:
- Step-by-step instructions: during the complex assembly of a product consisting of more than 150 steps, workers receive visual support on which parts to use in which order.
- Colour coding of required materials: The built-in LED display and the background colour of the display (e.g. red) help to identify the correct materials more quickly.
- Increased productivity and accuracy: the digital display minimises errors and increases the efficiency of production processes.
Digitalisation as a success factor
The introduction of e-shelf labels at Kontakt-Elektro Ltd. is an impressive demonstration of how digital shelf labels improve logistics, manufacturing and assembly processes. By intelligently linking WMS and MES, companies benefit from improved process reliability, efficiency and product quality.
