Electronic price tags for first vegan supermarket in Freiburg
A supermarket with only plant-based food - this vision has become reality for five founders in Freiburg. The overall planning took two years. Equipping the new shop with electronic price labels from e-shelf-labels was much quicker. Only a few weeks passed from the first request for a quotation to the installation and commissioning.
Because prices often fluctuate, especially in the food sector, the use of electronic labels makes particular sense there. Thanks to e-ink technology, the prices displayed are updated automatically or at the touch of a button. This makes the constant printing of paper labels superfluous and saves not only paper but also CO2.
Specifically, the choice fell on VUSION electronic price tags from the French manufacturer and market leader SES-imagotag. There is enough space on the 2.6-inch displays for all the information customers need for their purchase. Some data is even required by law - for example, the indication of the basic price. This information is now also automatically retrieved from a database and displayed on the label. The VUSION app is used to link the price labels to the various products.
Great support even for smaller businesses
For smaller companies and shops, the switch to electronic price labelling is sometimes difficult, especially if they initially need a rather small number of signs. This is often where e-shelf-labels comes into play as a project partner - as in this best-practice example: "In the German and European surrounding area, e-shelf-labels was the only distributor of e-ink price labels who wanted to work with us for our relatively small purchase quantity." - Jesko Treiber, Managing Director VENOI - Veganstore GmbH
Solutions for all
Finding a suitable solution for every business of any size is particularly important to us at e-shelf-labels. For the Venoi Veganstore, the labels could be provided quickly in the required quantity. e-shelf-labels was also able to help with the commissioning and support the setup process of the software. Another aspect and challenge in this project was to find a mounting solution for the electronic price labels on the shelving system used in the shop. A 3D-printed magnetic mount developed by the customer now holds the labels, which can be fixed in various places, firmly in place.
Thanks to the very good sales and technical support, the introduction of electronic price labelling in Freiburg's first vegan food shop has been successful. The goals set for the project were achieved:
"One expectation of ours was to save time in our daily business by connecting digital price tags directly to our merchandise management system. This expectation could be fulfilled." - Jesko Treiber, Managing Director VENOI - Veganstore GmbH
